Certification means that business users have confirmed a metric’s source, definition, and calculation. Publishing means that the metric is available for queries. They are separate states: a certified metric still must be published before it can run.

Certification states

  • Not certified: certification has not been submitted.
  • In review: submitted and waiting for review when approval is enabled.
  • Certified: approved.
  • Rejected: needs changes.
  • Expired: the validity period has ended.
Users with certification permission can use the certification action in the metric list. Before certifying, check the model version, measure, filters, unit, owner, and validity period.

Publishing checks

When you click Publish, the system checks the model, cube, measures, dimensions, members, and variables again. Only a metric that passes can become Published. Editing a published metric creates a new draft that must be published again.

Acceptance checklist

  • The code and name identify the metric clearly.
  • Definition, unit, owner, and validity period are complete.
  • The model and cube version are correct.
  • The result matches a business example.
  • Certification and publishing states meet the use case.
